Friday 'Nite- The 10 Most Important Characters In The Story
Friday ‘Nite is a weekly Fortnite column in which Mark Delaney takes a closer look at current events in the wide world of Fortnite, with a special emphasis on the game’s plot, characters, and lore.
The Fortnite story is an ever-changing and unpredictable adventure full of timeloops, kaiju battles, hostile invasions from Marvel baddies, and the more-than-occasional dancing banana. Epic loves to stay tight-lipped on the official plot, which leaves the community of players, writers, and YouTubers to fill in the gaps to the best of their abilities. While some of the story comes to us as merely our best guesswork, other aspects of the story are considered canon. The game’s massive cast of characters is always a point of emphasis. What are their motivations? Where did they come from? How come that one looks like a tree?
In this updated feature for 2022, we’re taking a fresh look at the 10 most important characters in Fortnite lore. We last pu…
James Gunn Doesn't Like "Cameo Porn" In Superhero Movies
DCU boss James Gunn criticized what he calls “cameo porn” in superhero films on Threads, stating that such appearances should contribute meaningfully to the overall narrative. Responding to a fan praising his approach of treating superheroes as developed characters rather than fan-service tools, Gunn writes, “If a character is in a film, they have to have a reason to be there story-wise.”
The director acknowledged that minor appearances are acceptable as long as they do not disrupt the narrative flow. “I don’t mind actual cameos–if it’s a glimpse or a moment, an Easter egg,” Gunn explained. “What bothers me is when they mangle an elegant story by shoehorning characters in. They aren’t there because the story calls for it, but for some other reason.”
The upcoming DCU film, Superman: Legacy, features an ensemble cast with David Corenset as Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, and characters including The Engineer, Mist…
Devolver E3 2021 Press Conference- How To Watch
E3 2021 is coming up very soon, and arguably already started with Summer Game Fest. One publisher holding its own show is Devolver Digital, the eccentric company focused on releasing what may otherwise be considered “indie” games. Coming on June 12, the stream will no doubt feature some game announcements, but Devolver’s shows are a little bit less… sensical than those from other companies. That certainly appears to be the case based on a teaser trailer of sorts that Devolver has released, dubbed the Devolver MaxPass+ Prologue. You can watch the video below, but it teases that the MaxPass+ will be revealed during Saturday’s event as “the future of monetization as a service,” whatever that means. We expect at least a few deaths.
Devolver Press Conference Stream Time
In May, Devolver put out a vague tweet stating that it had made plans for E3 and that it would do something “probably” on June 12. June 12 is the first day of E3 2021’s digital show, and we now know that D…
Judgment Review – Like A Tiger
With a remastered version of Judgment now available on new-gen platforms (PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X), a number of changes and improvements have been made to take advantage of the more powerful hardware. The game now runs at what looks to be a consistent 60 frames per second at a higher resolution (though not native 4K), allowing the game to perform more smoothly and look more refined–note, though, that there are no graphics options to prioritize visuals or performance. Loading has drastically improved as well, significantly cutting load times compared to last-gen machines–for example, one instance of loading into a game save took about six seconds on PS5 and around 35 seconds on PS4 Pro. Overall, these enhancements make the acrobatic street brawling, detective work, and detailed cutscenes of Judgment easier to enjoy.
One of the more notable changes is the difference in lighting and color grading between the two versions. While the warm saturation…

Mace Windu From Star Wars Is Alive And Should Get His Own TV Show, Samuel L. Jackson Says
Samuel L. Jackson played the Jedi Mace Windu in the Star Wars prequels, and while we all assumed the character died in 2005’s Revenge of the Sith, Jackson doesn’t think so. He told Empire that not only does he believe Windu is still alive, but he wants him to get his own TV show.
Regarding Windu’s fate, Jackson said, “He’s not dead!!!” And asked about what he would like to see Mace Windu do in a TV series for Disney+, Jackson said “Everything yes!!”
In a pivotal sequence in Revenge of the Sith, Windu says to Palpatine, “The oppression of the Sith will never return. You have lost.” Windu and Palpatine then tussle before Anakin tells Windu to spare Palpatine’s life. Windu opts to kill Palpatine instead, but Anakin slices Windu’s right hand off, sending his lightsaber crashing down onto the streets below.
Then Palpatine uses his lightning power to toss Windu to his death. Except we never actually see him die. In Hollywood, and especially in Star Wars movies, anything …
Madden 25 Gameplay Deep Dive Shows Off New Physics, And Here Comes The Boom
Madden NFL 25 will release in August, and EA has published a new video and blog post showing off some of its key improvements. The big focus of this gameplay deep dive is the game’s so-called “BOOM Tech,” which EA is touting as a totally redesigned tackling system that focuses on physics and real-world impact to give players more control over defense.
According to the blog post, BOOM Tech applies to any one-on-one tackle, which means that the game’s physics system will determine “dynamic outcomes” based on factors like speed, momentum, weight, and player ratings. BOOM Tech will apply to already-existing Madden gameplay concepts and moves, like the cut stick, trucks, stiff-arms, and dive tackles.
